Leicester Tigers’ Pick up Two Prestigious Industry Awards.

Leicester Tigers’ home at Welford Road has been named Rugby Venue of the Year, and the club’s ‘Tigers Family’ campaign also selected as Marketing Innovation of 2012 at the Rugby Expo awards in London.

Rugby Expo is the leading global conference and exhibition for both rugby codes and brings together representatives of unions, clubs, rights holders, brands, broadcasters, suppliers and innovators.

Leicester Tigers chief executive Simon Cohen said: “We’re delighted that Leicester Tigers topped the judging panel’s decisions in two categories. Welford Road is an iconic home of rugby. It is the biggest dedicated club rugby stadium in the country, with the biggest home crowds in the country, and we take huge pride in the number of world-class players who have played here either for Tigers or with visiting teams from across the UK, Europe and beyond.

“Welford Road is a stadium built exclusively for rugby, the players reach the pitch through the crowd, the crowd are close to the action on all four sides, they generate great noise from the stands and it all helps to produce a top-class rugby venue and occasion here.”

The Marketing Innovation award recognises the club’s ‘Tigers Family’ campaign, especially in social media.

Football Business Awards Winners Announced

Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea FC, hosted over 450 football business grandees last night in a black-tie ceremony to announce the winners of the first ever Football Business Awards. Designed to recognise success off rather than on the pitch, the sixteen categories were fiercely contested by clubs and business working in football – not just from the UK but around the world.

The ceremony was hosted by Sky Sports News Vicky Gomersall and comedian Ian Moore with entertainment provided by holder of 5 world records and Freestyle Football Champion, Dan Magness.

“The Football Business Awards 2012 dinner was immensely enjoyable.  Besides giving us a forum to mix and converse with our colleagues, we were able to give due recognition to those in our industry who are at the top of their game.”Bruce Buck, Chairman, Chelsea FC

“JSP are extremely proud to be involved with and supporting The Football Business Awards. The awards recognise the businesses that are involved in supporting professional sports organisations to achieve excellence not only on the field of play but also off of it” Dominic Jordan Managing Director JSP.
